Lacock Abbey Mug

This was built as an abbey but converted in to a country house c. 1540. Located in a picturesque village in Wiltshire, its many lime-washed, half-timbered stone houses date from the 13th century and has been featured in TV productions such as Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Lacock was the home of William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-77), who is named the “father of modern photography” as he invented the process of paper changing due to how much light hits it. It was his descendants that gave the abbey and village to the National Trust in 1944.

This is a fine bone china mug and is part of the National Trust collection.
