An immediately recognisable figure on the London skyline, Big Ben is as well-known as it is beautiful amongst the other new and heritage buildings that surround it. Big Ben is often used to describe the tower, clock, and the bell, however the name was originally just intended for the huge 13 tonne great bell which was sat on top of the Elizabeth Tower.
