Batemans Mug

This Jacobean house, made of sandstone, was originally built in 1634 for John Brittan, an iron master, before it becoming the home for Rudyard Kipling, who is probably best known for his stories such as ‘Jungle Book’ and ‘Kim’. The house has been looked after by the National Trust and it has been kept as when Kipling and his wife lived there.

Thismug is part of Alison’s National Trust Collection.
